Greens oppose train station closures in north Glasgow

Cllr Kieran Wild
Cllr Kieran Wild (Canal)
Green Councillor Kieran Wild opposes the proposals for closing train stations across the North of Glasgow laid out in the Scottish Governments Rail 2014 - Public Consultation.

Green Councillor Kieran Wild says:
“These proposals are a slap in the face of those local people who use these stations and reveal the truth about the SNP's lack of real vision for sustainable Scotland . The money saved from closing unmanned train stations such as Ashfield, Gilshochill and Maryhill is minimal but the impact in areas that are poorly served by buses such as Milton, Possilpark & Cadder will be great. The effect will be magnified by the fact that these areas have a high proportion of elderly people and that these are areas of multiple deprivation where the majority of people rely on public transport. I urge the public to respond to the consultation and to call on the SNP government to save these stations”
