Nina Baker

Councillor for Anderston/City

Cllr Nina Baker
Cllr Nina Baker (Anderston/City)

Dr Nina Baker has had a varied career as a merchant navy deck officer, research engineer and now as a part time university administrator. Married with two teenaged children, she has been in the Greens for over 22 years and takes a particular interest in recycling and food issues. She is councillor in the multimember ward of Anderston and City in Glasgow.

Flytipping and misuse of domestic bin areas continues to be a big problem across the ward. Much of it is associated with badly-run rented flats, where the landlord takes no interest in the responsibilities that come with the income he receives. I will always follow up any complaints made to me and will generally visit the location and take photos, like this one taken near Sauchiehall Street, so ttat I can get council officials on the case effectively. If it we can identify who did the dumping, they can be charged for the costs of the clearing up. A repeat offender who is also a landlord can lose their licence and their right to make money from other people's misery.

Don't hesitate to let me know of any problems in your area
